CuxREMOTE: Remote Maintenance System

CuxREMOTE is a multiplatform software package to put in action and manage remote maintenance sessions among different kind of Unix and MsDos/Windows systems.

CuxREMOTE includes a powerful communication tool, terminal sharing utilities and a menu driven interface.

The system can operate either in dial-in, dial-out or callback mode, with autorecover from line lossage.

CuxREMOTE DESK is the software you need to set up an help desk on your Unix or MsDos system and to deliver remote maintenance to remote Unix or MsDos platform CuxREMOTE SITE equipped.

No matter what system acts as DESK or SITE, CuxREMOTE recognizes which system is connected to and displays specific menu functions.

As an example, consider a CuxREMOTE DESK running on Unix and connecting to a MsDOS CUXREMOTE SITE. In this case, remote reboot and command.com prompt functions are active.

Later, let us assume the same Unix CuxREMOTE DESK will connect to another Unix CuxREMOTE SITE; then a different function set including login, CShell and Bourne Shell accesses is displayed as menu items.

CuxREMOTE is indipendent from communication media, supporting modem, ISDN, X28/X25, TCP/IP and INT14 connections.

CuxREMOTE provides three basic set of functions to deliver remote maintenance:

  • interactive access to remote system, LOGIN, SHELL or COMMAND.COM
  • online or scheduled file transfer
  • remote I/O redirection for remote runtime application analisys

Every CuxREMOTE Site can connect to a CuxREMOTE Desk with a simple command to ask for maintenance. After doing this, the operator at the CuxREMOTE Desk gains total control of his/her computer including the bear to break the active connections when maintenance session is over.

This is not the only available dialing policy: the operator at the CuxREMOTE DESK side can dial to a CuxREMOTE SITE and been called back.

File transfer is available to send software upgrade and doesn't care to line drops because of an autorecover feature intercepting line drops and self reconnecting to remote site.

A crypto access is included for the DESK and SITE handshaking to provide high security level. On Unix system CuxREMOTE doesn't require remote sessions access permissions.

Times and operations performed by CuxREMOTE DESK operators are logged on both DESK and SITE sides: multiple log files and customized configuration files as well are stored for each SITE of the network.
